March Blog Post

Welcome March! I don’t know about you all but I am so happy to see February in the rearview mirror. Bring on March! Hopefully we’ve seen the last of the snow and cold and March goes out like a lamb. As always, there’s a lot going on in March. We have Women’s Day on March 8th and on the next day, we have the start of daylight saving time. On March 17th, there’s St. Patrick’s Day - a great time to teach luck idioms. Nowruz and Spring are on March 21st, both are great topics to cover. Ramadan started on March 1st and Lent will begin March 5th. And, of course we have March Break from March 10-14. As you can see, it is a month of fabulous topics. February Fun! The beginning of February means you have made it (or almost made it) through changing CLB levels on your proficiency lists, doing reports and conference summaries, and filling out the assessment logs! So, bravo! As always, this month is chalk full of lots of teaching topics. You might have already talked about Lunar New Year with your students, but it’s a great time to talk about personal characteristics and qualities. A fun activity to try with your students is looking at their zodiac animals and reading descriptions to see if they agree or disagree with the associated characteristics. April Showers are Here! How is it April already? The weather is calling for lots of precipitation at the end of the March, but April flowers bring May flowers, right? Talking about showers, weather is always a topic of interest.
