April Showers Bring May Flowers…or so we are told…

We’ve had some wacky weather throughout the month of April. I think Wiarton Willy led us astray with his early spring prediction. Now that we are in May, the countdown to the end of classes is on. It’s just a short 6 weeks before this term is over. How we got here so quickly amazes me.

There is a lot that can still be covered for this month. For the gardening enthusiasts among us, you can talk about gardening, plants, flowers and wildlife you may encounter in the garden. Of course, we have Mother’s Day on May 10 and Victoria Day on May 19.  May is also Mental Health Awareness Month and ALS Awareness Month.

As we are approaching the end of our reporting period, now is a great time to get in those last few assessments and update your tracking logs. You can check out Avenue and Tutela

for assessments and real world tasks. Then you’ll be ready for any benchmark changes you are planning to make.

On that note, if you have not submitted your 3 RWT/Assessments to me please get them in by the beginning of June. A big thank you to everyone who has already submitted them 🙂.

Haleema and I will host a HART’s refresher on May 9th just before Danielle’s Avenue Workshop and Updates. Check your email next week for a Zoom invite. Also, keep your eye out for the PBLA Classroom Practices Review and Self Assessment that Carolyn mentioned at our last meeting. This is the same as what we completed last year.

Don’t forget to check out Danielle’s Avenue updates. Also, make sure to take a look at the LTSS Workshop Calendar for upcoming presentations in May.

Thank you to everyone who has shared resources - we really appreciate and keep ‘em coming.

If you have questions or concerns that are PBLA related, please feel free to reach out to Haleema or myself.

Have a wonderful month!  Marina and Haleema
