In like a Lion

Are you seriously mansplaining me that Spring is just around the corner?

Spring is allegedly on March 21 and we laugh, our students laugh, our newly arrived students cry. But really, we all cry just a little inside. I guess it's a small price  to pay for freedom and peace in Canada.

Speaking of Freedom, March 8 is International Women's Day:

Lara Lynn pointed out that ESL Library has an excellent section on teaching Reading Skills, in particular the skills we look for in reading assessments such as: Skimming and Scanning,
Understanding implied meaning (and the difference with making inferences), Identifying layout, Author's purpose, Register and Point of View.

Marina shared an excellent blog that has great listening links:  http://englishinvancouver.blogspot.com/ Still don't know what to teach in March? Here are some March Theme ideas from Carolyn: MARCH.

Don't forget about NEWCOMER DAY at the Halton Region on Friday March 13. (see Ana's email for details). We thank all the contributor's for this month's blog post:Lara Lyn, Marina, Kate and Carolyn, Haleema and Marcella. Think about contributing something in April!

Happy March!
